I'm getting kind of sick of living in this country.
When the leaders habitually declare wars on ideas and fight personal liberty in the name of safety, something is wrong. They don't give two cents about your safety. They want what they've always wanted. Power. Then they want more power, and we're just giving it to them, because daddy knows best. We're stuck in the “America is Awesome” super machismo attitude that gave rise to such wonderful pinnacles of human rights such as “Fifty-Four Forty or Fight!”. We want back that wild and rough pioneer attitude so badly that we are willing to vote not once, but TWICE for a leader whose foreign policy seems to consist of an exaggerated “kick ass and take names” approach towards other countries.
Lets face it America, Osama is sitting somewhere hiding, and he's laughing his ass off. He doesn't have to do JACK except sit around while we destroy everything we stand for by ourselves. His ultimate victory will not come by causing mass deaths and widespread destruction. He's using that ever so effective weapon of FEAR. Fear makes people do strange things, like give up things that are theirs by right. Like freedoms and liberties. Those in power are all too willing to take advantage of our primal fears, whether it be by capitalizing on it for wealth, power, or, more often, both. Three thousand people died in 2001 from the “cowardly” attack on the trade center. Our president vowed that our way of life was threatened, that freedom was under attack by unknown assailants waiting around every corner with a bomb strapped to their chest. Three thousand dead, and we declare a war on an ideal that has cost so few lives that its not even CLOSE to the mortality rates for driving accidents or even homicides. That's right, our own countrymen kill more people than the terrorists. We've lost more people and spent more money on the war in terror than those 3000 plus a tower cost. Where's the war on homicide? The war on cars? The war on heart disease?
After claiming our way of life wouldn't change, our glorious God-inspired leader then proceeded to change it in ways that would give the founding fathers enough rotational motion to power a city. From the more recent Military Commissions act that suspended the constitutional right to Habaeus Corpus (“We won't abuse it, we just need to catch the trrists, honest!”), to the PATRIOT Act (“No, I didn't read the whole thing, its 400 pages long and there's stuff in that was just added last night, but its the PATRIOT act!”), to warrantless NSA wiretaps (What do you have to worry about comrade? You haven't done anything wrong, right?), to torture (They might know where a bomb is), to a secret prison (gotta put the “terrorists” someplace). The government treats its citizens like the morons most of them are, and we are ALL suffering. The government was created to serve its citizens, not to acquire power and act as a nanny state. Government has turned into an end in and of itself, rather than a means to the end of a freer people protected by a sacred document that has been turned into a wipe rag for all presidents of the modern age. From Reagen's cold war rhetoric and huge military to later administrations arming of people you may have heard of like Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden to the later invasions of sovereign countries, ostensibly to stop terrorism, America has been on a path well traveled throughout history.
The TSA is a piece of shit organization. When was the last time they actually caught a terrorist? What business does the government have in a private place of business? Besides, you think a bunch of minimum wage employees who took the job cause it was better than working at McDonalds are really keeping you safe? They don't give two shits, cause they know what I know.... there is no terrorist threat. Obviously, we can't just open our airlines to whoever and whatever, but come on, surely we don't need this broken waste of time facade that is being put on for show. Its a SHOW for crying out loud. Its there to make you FEEL safe. Its working too, people feel safe about flying now because they are being strip searched. Nevermind that any halfway intelligent person could defeat it, and that flying is safer than driving or just walking down the street. How many terrorist attacks have their been in the last 6 years? (And don't give me that fools excuse of “the war on terror must be working”. I might well claim that my bowl of salsa keeps the tigers out of my room.)
Our constitution is in real danger. Government is no longer a protector from outward threats and a protector of all mens liberty, it is a huge monolithic entity that feeds itself from the coffers of the working American public. Your tax dollars are buying bombs to kill people, they are financing the war on terror, they are making companies like Blackwater, Halliburton, Lockheed-Martin, and their respective CEOs and business partners very, very rich. Many of these people are involved with the highest levels of government or are being tasked with jobs that the government is outsourcing at a major cost to taxpayers. Instead of feeding your kids and buying that house and staying out of debt, your money is going to the government. You and I both know what they are doing with it. Buying million dollar missiles to kill people just like us. People with lives and families and children and names like Abdul. And that's what makes them different. Their lives and customs.
The worst part? Its all voluntary. There is a segment of the population that is so FUCKING gung ho for our current presidents plan to kick ass and kill the A-rabs who attacked us, that they have wet dreams about this guy. They can't see past their own vision of how America is so uber and awesome that one can't help but conjure up images of Nazi Germany, of the Motherland (Homeland). The white race rules supreme in America, so god help you if you don't wave the flag and praise God while messing up everyone else's shit in the name of FREEDOM. What blows my mind is that these people are so inbred they can't understand the obvious irony of invading a country with “Operation Iraqi Freedom” and then turning around and voting for people who want to tap your phones and read your email and put cameras on every streetlight and stop you and search you. “What's the matter?”, they ask... “If you aren't hiding anything....”, never stopping to question what freedom is if it isn't the right to do what you want without the government taking control. They lack the brainpower to understand the idea of a slippery slope, that the government is not to be trusted any farther than you can throw its humongous business of creating things to worry about.
Its making me so angry I could scream. The government doesn't want to help you... the government wants you to lube up, bend over, and hand them your wallet while they screw you. And some assholes are smiling while taking it up the bum, handing their money over with a grin and believing that these people about to violate them and walk all over them actually have their best interests at heart. They want POWER and nothing else. They get off on controlling people, violating them, and gathering as much power as they can have around them. The founding fathers anticipated this, the fact that a position of power will really only attract people who ought not to have power. So they setup the checks and balances system. Right now? The executive branch has managed to accrue such power that if it is not checked immediately, we could have an even more situation on our hands. We need to elect someone who ISN'T about power, but who is about freedom. REAL freedom.
As I said, its all voluntary. People ACTUALLY believe that the terrorists are lurking around every corner, waiting to kill them. They believe that their rights should be suspended to protect the citizens. The government has these mouth-breathers so up in arms about an invisible threat that has killed an entire 3000 citizens in the past decade that they are willing to let the government track their every move. After all, they have nothing to hide. Never mind that completely unreasonable expectation of privacy, and the fact that they have no right, under any law or moral code, to make that decision for someone else. Today its the phones, tomorrow its the GPS, the day after its “Papers please, comrade”, and then its a really quick drop to “Hail to the Chief or else”. The retards would have us become a facist state in the name of safety from an unknown enemy of unknown strength that we can't fight by any conventional means. And Osama is high fiving his buddies and downing a brewski.
I'll tell you what. I would gladly sacrifice 3000 people a YEAR if we could keep our freedoms. Is three thousand a year such a steep price to pay for liberty? Hell no. I would be the first in that line, and I bet there's a lot of people out there who feel the same way.
While we are on the subject of dying for your country, it makes me think of patriotism. Patriotism is stupid. So unbelievably stupid that only someone who can reconcile a loving God and a hateful war in their head could possibly be a patriot.
Now when I say patriot, I don't mean someone who loves his country. I love my country, its a great place to live, full of wonderful natural beauty and a land whose freedom is (or rather WAS) unrivaled. By patriot, I mean someone who believes that insulting the leader of the government is unpatriotic. That revolution is unpatriotic, that not loving God is unpatriotic (this country was FOUNDED on Christian values, remember? Nevermind that lots of the founding fathers were staunch atheists.), that the church needs a place in the government, that if you don't just LOVE America and piss red white and blue, then you must not be a patriot. You imbeciles who can't use logic and reason and instead appeal to the senses of emotion for guiding the direction of the country need to be dragged out to the street corner and executed as traitors, because that's what you are. The current and past leaders who have tried stunts to grab power and money from the people need to be hung for war crimes.
This country needs to rise up and SIEZE the power from the government, by any means necessary. The government needs to be in constant fear of an uprising from its citizens. It is the final resort of a system of government designed to restrict the individual power and enable its citizens with the greatest freedom possible.
I sincerely believe that the founding fathers would be ashamed. What started as a loose coalition of revolutionary men who wanted to live their lives free of the influence of tyranny has devolved into a huge corporation capable only of wasting the money of its inhabitants and trying to seize more power from the people it purports to protect. What started as a mostly libertarian ideal has devolved into party squabbling and party-line voting and Republicrat whining. They're all the same thing, they want power, they just try to seduce a different part of the populace to get it.
We need to change, and FAST if this country is to survive much longer.
Unfortunately for me, Heroes is on tonight. The revolution will have to wait.
